We focus on growing and distributing strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries for the retail market in the United Kingdom. Our vision is to create the very best berry experience by refining each component of the process from the breeding and selection of new varieties to the final offer to the consumer. We achieve this through the creation of new value in the supply chain, better consistency, improved flavour and year-round availability of berries.

About our company

Berry Gardens Ltd is based in Tonbridge, England and is the UK’s largest fresh berry supplier, with a turnover of £170 million and sales of 37,000 tonnes of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. We offer our retailer customers a year round programmed supply from all our grower groups and sources. As a wholly owned subsidiary of KG Growers, the largest soft fruit grower co-operative in the UK, we market all of their berry production and can therefore respond rapidly to market trends and demands.

To allow us to offer the best berry experience year-round, Berry Gardens and KGG have between them exclusive partnerships with Driscoll’s, the largest marketer of fresh berries in the world and Alconeras, the leading supplier of fresh berries in the UK during February to May. This means that our UK growers have exclusive access to Driscoll’s proprietary varieties and technical support. Additionally, consumers benefit from the exclusive rights that the UK Group has to market Driscoll’s varieties from all sources around the world, and fruit from both Driscoll’s and Alconeras production in their own respective geographies. Berry Gardens also has close relationships with supplying growers and grower groups in a range of other countries to ensure that we can achieve our vision of a year round supply of the best eating berries available.

About KGG

KG Growers has around 70 grower members producing berries. The growers are situated in all of the main production areas across the UK; south east England, the Midlands and West Midlands, East Anglia and Scotland, where we have 15 growers. The 2009 production area comprises around 1240 hectares of strawberries, 440 hectares of raspberries, 65 hectares of blackberries, 40 hectares of blueberries, and over 20 hectares of other berries including blackberries, blueberries, red and black currants. KG Growers, as the UK’s largest soft fruit grower, represents over 40% of the total UK production volume of each berry type.

Campos de Alconeras S.L. is a family owned business growing and marketing Spanish and Moroccan strawberries, raspberries and blueberries in Europe and the UK. It is a leading supplier of fresh berries in the UK during February to May and a significant grower in Spain and Morocco.

Driscoll’s is the largest marketer of fresh berries in the world, selling a mix of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. The company has pioneered the breeding and development of proprietary berry varieties focusing on consumer delight. Based in California, Driscoll’s has operations in Europe, North America, South America and Australia. Driscoll’s aim is to delight consumers with high quality, great tasting berries available year round.
